JULIAN BROUGHTON

Julian Broughton is a composer, pianist, conductor and teacher. He has directed the Buxted Symphony Orchestra since 2013, and has also performed with the orchestra as soloist in concertos by Mozart and Schumann. (https://www.julianbroughtoncomposer.co.uk/).
Julian’s compositions include a Concerto for Violin and Orchestra written for Miriam Teppich, four string quartets, and a substantial Requiem. Quartet No.3 was premiered by the Fitzwilliam String Quartet. Quartet no.4 was commissioned by the Resol Quartet which gave nine performances of the piece during 2024. The Piano Trio was completed in January 2024.
Julian has written many pieces for his own instrument, including Szenen am Bach: three ‘Goldberg’ variations, commissioned by Rachel Fryer as part of her ‘Variations down the line’ project (2020), Seven Days (2021) and Nocturne: Blue Midnight, commissioned by Nancy Cooley (2023).
