About New Sussex Singers
New Sussex Singers is a small, well-established group of around 40 singers. Though the choir is a selected group, the singers have a variety of experience, some are professionally trained singers, others quite new to the choral world. However, we all share a passion for excellence and high-quality music making. The main focus of the group is choral music in its many guises but there are opportunities for step-out solos with the group as well.
We work with our director Seb Charlesworth to develop a unified sound that allows us to perform in many styles and genres. Our wide and eclectic repertoire includes folk, part songs and madrigals, secular and religious music, opera, operetta, oratorio and jazz a cappella.
Over the past few years concerts have included composers ranging from Baroque composers Bach and Vivaldi right through to the leading contemporary composers of today such as Cecilia McDowall, Sally Beamish, Paul Carr and Jonathan Dove.
